Any benefits that have been expunged will display with the Msg-Type “S1014”: and the Trans-Type “AGE.” For instructions on how to navigate the EBT screens and view historical transactions, please see the EBT Card Issuance and Navigating EBT Screens QRG. Important Notes: • Persons released from the Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) who have questions about release funds that have been expunged, please refer them to the ODOC (release officer) for assistance. ODOC funds display on the EBT Financial History with a Ben-Type: CTRAN. • ODHS contracts with a vendor for EBT services, including tracking benefit issuance and usage. The system works on a “first-in, first-out” basis. Purchases are deducted from the balance of the oldest issuance first. Examples Example 1: Mary was approved for SNAP from January 1 through December 31 and benefits made available January 1. The January benefits will reach 274 days (around 9 months) of age on October 1. By the end of August, she has not used any of her SNAP benefits. ODHS sends Mary an expungement notice. Mary does not use any EBT benefits so they are expunged. Benefit removal will continue if she does not make a EBT purchase or withdrawal (or until there are no more remaining benefits in the EBT account). Example 2: Jammie was approved for TANF from January 1 through December 31 and benefits made available January 1. By August, they have not used any of their TANF benefits. ODHS sends Jammie an expungement notice. Jammie immediately uses their EBT card to withdraw $50. Because they used the EBT benefits, expungement is stopped and the 274 day clock is reset. Example 3: Fritz was approved for SNAP from January 1 through December 31 and benefits made available January 1. By August, he has not used any of his SNAP benefits. ODHS sends Fritz an expungement notice. Fritz does not immediately use his EBT card and the January benefits are expunged. Fritz makes a purchase after the expungement in the amount of $5. Because he used the EBT benefits, further expungement is stopped and the 274 day clock is reset.
