652 Chapter 3:Processes and procedures • Section 2: Verification (07/2026) Example 1: Rahul currently has earned income of $1000 per month listed on his Periodic Report from his job at TJ’s Market. On the Periodic Report Rahul states his income has decreased to $850 per month and did not provide verification. This is a change in total earned income of more than $125 per month, and an RFI will be issued. Example 2: Shanice currently has social security benefits in the amount of $500 per month and $350 per month from her pension. On the Periodic Report she states she is now receiving a $580 in SSB and $410 from her pension and did not provide verification. This is a change in total unearned income of more than $125 per month, and an RFI will be issued. Example 3: Matthew currently has wages in the amount of $500 per month and $350 per month from his pension. On the Periodic Report he states he is now receiving $580 in wages from the same employer and $410 from his pension and did not provide verification. This is a change in total earned income of $80 and change in total unearned income of $60. An RFI will not be issued because neither the total earned, nor total unearned income increased over the $125. If there is a new income source, which includes income from a new member of the filing group, the income needs to be verified. Example: Paul and Maria are currently receiving SNAP on a case together. A Periodic Report is received which states their 20-year-old son Daveed has moved home. They list on the report that Daveed is currently working at Burger Farm and did not provide verification of his income. An RFI will be issued for Daveed’s newly reported income. If the total income from all sources in the ONE system was not above 130% of FPL but now goes above 130% of FPL, the income needs to be verified. Example: Javen is currently receiving SNAP benefits on his own and is working part time at Frank’s Frosty earning $800 per month and at O’s Tire Factory earning $500. On the Periodic Report he reports he started working more hours at O’s Tire Factory with earnings of $600 per month, no verification provided. This new income now places his case above 130% of FPL, so even though the change is not more than $125 the system will generate an RFI for income verification. Reminder: Entering “Needs Verification” will not override any of the rules in ONE. “Needs Verification” should only be used when information received is questionable. If an individual didn’t provide verification the correct selection to use is “Client statement” unless found questionable. Renewals: When verification is required Change in Income ONE will ONLY generate an RFI for a change in income if the source has changed or the amount has changed by more than $50. Adding a new income source for an existing or a new filing group member is also considered a change in the source of income. Example 1: Jamal submits a renewal with income from his job at Tin Can Garage in the amount of $1000 per month and did not provide verification. The worker sees the income record in ONE is currently verified with pay stubs at $975 per month. The worker adds a new earned income record for same employer of $1000 monthly. Verification is entered as ‘Other Documentation’ and the system will not generate the RFI for verification because
