D. FACILITIES RECEIVING SUBSIDIES THAT CHARGE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUBSIDY REIMBURSEMENT RATES AND PRIVATE RATES Table 14 provides information on facilities that charge subsidy recipients the difference between their subsidy rates and private-pay rates (Yes response to the question, “Do you charge parents receiving subsidized child care any of the difference between your private pay rate and the subsidy reimbursement rate?”). Close to a 20 percent (327) of centers and 7.2 percent of homes (37) charge the difference. Table 15 presents information on the number of children who received subsidies and are enrolled in facilities that charge the difference in private-pay and subsidized rates. Across age categories, the greatest percentage of children impacted by such charges are enrolled in three star centers. Patterns are different for subsidized children enrolled in homes, with the greatest percent in four-star facilities. Table 14.
