A child must be:
● under 18 years of age, or
● 18 years of age and a full-time student in a secondary school (or in the equivalent level of vocational or technical training). Full-time status is defined by the institution.
II. PROCEDURES
Refer to B-120-FITAP for verification of age.
* LITE will send an automated Case Action Task: 18th Birthday Approaching two months (on the 15th) prior to the child’s birth month. This allows the case owner sufficient time to call the family and request verification of school enrollment, if the child is enrolled full-time.
For example: A child is approaching their 18th birthday and the date of birth is 8/25, the 18th Birthday Approaching Task will appear on the dashboard on 6/15 with a due date of 7/10.
Call the qualified relative and inquire if the child is enrolled full-time in school.
If the child is not enrolled full-time, no further action is required.
If the child is enrolled full-time, send a semi-automated FFCCL - Client Contact Letter (18C FF) in LITE requesting the school enrollment/attendance verification.
To request verification of school enrollment on the LITE Education – Details screen:
Input the Enrollment Status for the member.
Enrollment Verification should be updated to Pending Verification
Is this person working towards a High School Diploma or GED/HiSET? Yes
Type of Educational Institution/Training Program should be updated to reflect the educational institute the 18 year old is attending (i.e. High School, GED Program/HiSET, etc.)
Upon running EDBC, LITE will request the verification of school enrollment and allow the client 10 days to provide the requested verification. ** Verification of full-time enrollment in a secondary school or its equivalent must be current.
