[1] MS 6765 Volume 2- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) MS 6765 – R. 5/1/26 – OMTL – 694 Acting on Change of Address [When the household reports a change of address, take the following action: A. Update the address. 1. Add the new address start date on the Primary Applicant Address Information Screen with the date the household began residing at the new address. 2. Add the new physical address and a mailing address, if applicable. B. Verify household composition. 1. After the address is changed, the system will automatically navigate to the household composition screen, as it is required to verify household composition when an address change occurs. 2. Enter verification of household composition if it is available at the time of change. If no verification source is available at the time of change, enter as Not Verified to allow the case to issue a Request for Information (RFI) that will allow 10 days to provide the requested verification. C. Update shelter expenses. 1. Enter an “End Date” for all active shelter and utility expenses for the old address. 2. If the household received shelter and/or utility deductions at the previous address, inquire with the household about possible shelter and utility expenses at the new address. The household’s entitlement to these deductions begins anew with the change of address. 3. The “Begin Date” of the shelter deductions must be the same as or a later date than the “Begin Date” of the address; otherwise, the system will recognize that the shelter deductions are no longer allowable. 4. Enter verification of shelter expenses if verification is available, or enter the unverified client stated amount of reported expenses at the new address and allow the case to pend. An RFI will be issued requesting proof of the unverified expense. If the individual does not provide the requested verification within 10 days, their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) allotment will be recalculated without the deductions. Note: If the Standard Utility Allowance (SUA) was verified by receipt of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), the household may still use LIHEAP as the verification source if the assistance was received in the prior 12 months and other technical eligibility factors are still met at the new address.
