MS 6400 [2]
information originally requested. A new application and interview are not required.
Example: An individual applied on May 15th and provided all mandatory verification except income verification. A Request for Information (RFI) was given to request income verification for the prior two months (March and April). The individual did not return the requested verification, and their application was denied on June 15th. On June 20th, check stubs for April and May are returned. The household is certified without an interview (as other requirements are met) because verification necessary to reactivate the case has been provided, even though it is not the verification that was originally requested. The reactivation date is June 20th.
D. A household must provide mandatory verification, but it may not necessarily be the verification originally requested. In this example, the mandatory verification provided was income verification for April and May. The original request was for March and April income verification.
Reactivate the case with benefits prorated from the date the requested action was completed. A reactivation must be entered using the date the required action was completed. Applications meeting these criteria should be reactivated as soon as possible, but no later than 60 days from the initial application date.
Example: An application is filed on April 20th and is pending for required action by the household. The applicant has until May 20th to complete the necessary action. The application denies the evening of May 20th. The mandatory verification was received on June 17th. The application is reactivated with June 17th as the reactivation date. Action must be taken early enough so the individual can participate in the program, or the individual receives a notice of denial, by the 60th calendar day from the initial April 20th application date.
E. When a Non-Case Decision (NCD) worker or any worker tries to dispose a case that pends for supervisor approval, a message will appear stating that a supervisor has to sign off on the case before it can be processed, and a supervisor task will be generated. The Eligibility Determination and Benefit Calculation (EDBC) process will proceed with the eligibility determination for the program, but benefits will not be authorized. This ensures RFI notices are generated and sent to the household timely. Actual disposition of the case, including approval, denial, or discontinuance of benefits, does not occur until a supervisor signs off on the case.
F. When a change is made to a pending case, the existing RFI due date will be recalculated if the current due date is less than 10 days from the original RFI due date (reference date).
1. Any unverified change reported on or prior to the reference date will generate an RFI that aligns with the case's timely action date. RFI due date will be 30 days from the application date (or next business day, if the 30th day is a weekend or holiday).
