Volume 2 - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) MS 6400 – R. 5/31/26 – OMTL – 695 Overview of Application Time Standards
The processing standards of applications are as follows:
A. [If the household is not eligible for expedited services, process the application within 30 calendar days from the date the application is filed.
1. When households submit an incomplete Form FS-1, application for SNAP, or a Self-Service Portal (SSP) application for SNAP, a notice is generated by Worker Portal to inform the household of incomplete application and interview requirements. 2. When a completed Form FS-1 or SSP application is submitted, a notice is generated by Worker Portal to inform the household of interview requirements. If the required due date is on a weekend or holiday, the verification is due the next business day.
Households that provide all requested information must have action taken on their applications promptly. Action must be taken early enough that the household is able to participate in the program, or the household receives a notice of denial, by the 30th calendar day from the date of application. Only those cases pending requested information or completion of the interview are held until the 30th day from the date of application. If the household fails to provide mandatory verification, deny the application. If the required due date is on a weekend or holiday, the verification is due the next business day.
Note: See MS 6710 for information regarding changes to pending applications.

Application taken on: Must be processed by: Monday Friday Tuesday Friday (as the 4th day is Saturday) Wednesday Friday (as the 4th day is Sunday) Thursday Monday Friday Tuesday
If the household is ineligible for benefits, notify them of the denial so the notice is received within five calendar days of the date of application. If the household fails to provide mandatory verification, the household loses its right to expedited services; process the application according to normal timeframes outlined in Item A of this section.

If the applicant completes the required action within 60 days from the initial application date or provides enough necessary verification to be certified for benefits, the application is reactivated even if it is not the
