MATCH TASK FLOWS

During a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) application, recertification, reactivation, and member add an individual’s ID, social security number (SSN), and residency are verified, an auto system-initiated call is made, or a manual request call is made to NAC interface service. If a match is found that determines the individual as receiving benefits in another state, NAC will notify initiating state (Kentucky) and matching state(s). Match details will be displayed on NAC screen. If no match is found, the details of no match will be displayed on NAC screen.

Staff will verify the match summaries and initiate match action. When starting the match action, the system will refresh the match updates present on the NAC screen. (Worker Portal will prevent the worker from proceeding with the SNAP case flow when initial action is not taken on all NAC matches)

A. The following details define each type of State:

1. Initiating State, is the state which initiates the SNAP NAC inquiry during intake, recertification, reactivation, or member add.

Example: Staff in Kentucky receive and process John Doe’s SNAP application and verify identity, residency, and SSN. The system makes a call to NAC and receives a match in Illinois and Montana. In this case Kentucky is the Initiating State and Illinois and Montana are the Matching States.

In this example, NAC will create a Match ID for Kentucky (Initiating State), Illinois (Matching State), and Montana (Matching State) and sends emails to all states with the match details.

2. Matching State, is the state in which a match is found when another state initiates the call to NAC.

Example: John Doe is an active SNAP participant in Kentucky. John Doe applies for SNAP benefits in Illinois. Staff in Illinois run a NAC search and receive a duplicate match in Kentucky. In this case, Illinois is the Initiating State and Kentucky is the Matching State.

In this example, NAC will create a Match ID between Illinois (Initiating State) and Kentucky (Matching State) and sends emails to both states with the match details.

B. Initiating NAC Match Calls

1. Staff are required to initiate a real-time NAC call within the case flow through Worker Portal during application, recertification, reactivation, or when adding an additional member to the SNAP household. Initiating NAC
