Transportation for WIC Participants

1 of 1 POLICY:

The State Agency may authorize the transportation of WIC participants to and from local WIC clinics where access is a barrier.

PROCEDURE:

A. Documentation of Services

1. The Local Agency requesting authorization must submit their request in writing to the State Agency.

a. The Local Agency request must include documentation that providing transportation services is essential to assure program access.

b. The State Agency will notify the Local Agency if their request for the allowability of transportation has been approved.

B. Distribution

1. The Local Agency must distribute transportation benefits fairly and adhere to Policy 1.08 Civil Rights.

2. The Local Agency must maintain documentation of all transportation benefits issued.

3. Direct reimbursement to participants for transportation cost is not an allowable cost.
