2300.2.3 Benefit Decrease/Case Closure

Take action to decrease the benefit within ten days after the change is reported. Use the information provided by the household. Verification is not required for decreases until interim report or recertification, whichever comes first.

Exception : When a household is active RUFA and 3SVT send a VCR for RUFA only, requesting the income verification. If the verification is received process the case according to the verification received. If verification is not received, update the 3SVT case with the self-reported information and process the case accordingly.

Households must receive advance notice , when benefits are decreased or the case is closed. Benefit decreases or case closures are effective no later than the month following the month in which the adverse action period ends.

Exception : Adequate notice is allowed in some situations.
