An interview is not required. Process the application unless the applicant requests an interview.

Process the application without an interview if an interview is requested by the applicant and they fail to keep it. Do not deny the EDG for a missed appointment or send Form H1020-MA-FA, Request for Information or Action-Missed Appointment-Flexible Appointment.

Exceptions:

If the applicant was previously denied for failure to provide Form H1024, Subject: Self-Declaration Notice for missing an appointment about HCO or Texas Health Steps noncompliance, schedule a phone interview and deliver the HCO. Remind the applicant about the importance of the Texas Health Steps checkup at that time.

Staff conduct an interview for an initial application or redetermination when HHSC receives conflicting information about household composition or income that affects eligibility and the information cannot be verified through other means, such as an associated EDG .
