Participants who have been receiving Categorical ERDC child care support services while on TANF assistance may continue to receive Categorical ERDC for the remainder of their 12 month certification. ERDC benefits will only close during the 12 month certification if any of the following apply: • The family moved out of state • There are no longer eligible children in the home • The family requests benefit closure • Benefits were determined in error • The family’s income exceeds ongoing and exit income limits. An ERDC application is required when a child care request is made prior to TANF closing. Applicants can apply and sign online, by using the 415f or 7476, or through a verbal signature and application. Eligibility workers can also collect the application information orally and submit it into the worker portal. Eligibility will need to be cleared by completing the application process, verifying and narrating all ERDC eligibility requirements, and completing an interview in person or by phone. A participant may request ERDC and establish a date of request by: • Phone call, written request or office visit • A completed and returned TANF 6E Application for ERDC; Conversion from TANF (a computer- generated notice) or • Any other method that results in enough information to determine a child care need. The system will not count the child support on the ERDC case if this is not updated correctly.
