1290 (07/2026) Chapter 8: Examples • Chapter 8: Examples SNAP Example 1: ODHS is notified that the head of household, and only adult on the case passed on September 16. Two children, ages 12 and 13 remain on the SNAP case. The worker should remove the children on the case composition screen using the DOD as the date the children left, following guidance in the QRG Add or Remove Individual-Add Newborn-Change Head of Household. Cancel the EBT card for the HoH. ODHS/OHA may appoint an alternate payee for the adult acting as guardian, issue them an EBT card, and have them choose a PIN to access any remaining SNAP benefits. Write a case note. The guardian may choose to apply for SNAP, if not already receiving SNAP, or may add the children to an already existing SNAP case. Adding a New Person Example 1: Nonie contacted the ODHS branch office on March 2 to report that her 4 year old daughter, Katrina, moved back into the home on February 27. Nonie states that she has full custody of Katrina again and expects this living arrangement to continue. Nonie already receives ERDC for two of her children and is requesting child care for Katrina as well. The case in ONE is updated, and an email is sent to DPU requesting that the March billing form be canceled and reissued to include Katrina. Adding a New Person Example 2: Maria notified ODHS that her child’s father has moved into the home and works part- time. The second caretaker and their income are added to the case, and the EDG increases to three. The added caretaker’s income will not count toward the copay calculation for the remainder of the certification period. The copay remains the same and will be re-evaluated at the next certification. The second caretaker’s income will be considered when determining whether the EDG meets or exceeds the ERDC exit income limit. Adding a New Person Example 3: Svetlana reports to ODHS that she now has care, control, and supervision of her three 5-year-old nieces, who are all receiving Social Security Death Benefits. The children and their income are verified and added to the case in ONE. The EDG increases to five. Their income is considered when determining whether the EDG meets or exceeds the ERDC exit income limit. The total EDG income exceeds the exit limit, so ERDC benefits close with timely notice. OSIPM Adding a New Person Example 1: Mrs. Harris is an SSI recipient and receives OSIPM. On June 19, Mrs. Harris reports that her estranged husband will move back into the household on June 27. Mr. Harris also receives SSI and requests medical benefits. All of his eligibility requirements are met on the day he moves in and are verified on July 5. The effective date is June 1. A basic decision notice approving benefits is system-generated. ERDC ERDC ERDC
