1254 (07/2026) Chapter 8: Examples • Chapter 8: Examples Example 3: Fatima is receiving Expanded Child Welfare ERDC for her grandson, Youssef. The case is authorized with the part-time hour allotment of 108 hours/month. On 3/5, Fatima contacts her family coach and shares that she’s begun attending weekly counseling and parenting support groups required by her ODHS safety plan. She will also be meeting regularly with her caseworker. The family coach uses the Child Care Additional Hours Request (Cat-El/EXP-CW) screen in ONE to record the request and notes the need for additional hours to participate in required family well-being activities. The family coach approves the case for a full-time allotment of 215 hours/month, effective 4/1. The family coach emails DPU to request that the March CCB be reissued with 215 hours, or that an adjustment be made if it has already been paid. ERDC Determining student hours for one- and two-caretaker families Example 1: One-caretaker, non-working student Walter provided verification current class schedule, which verifies he attends class 4 hours per week. He is eligible for 4 student hours per week, plus 5 weekly hours of study time. Total hours are: 4 weekly student hours + 5 weekly study hours = 9 weekly hours. Walter is eligible for the part-time (20 hrs per week, plus travel time) authorization of hours because his total weekly hours fall between 1-20 hours per week. Example 2: One-caretaker, working student Raj provided verification that he attends class 6 hours per week. He is eligible for 6 student hours per week, and 5 weekly hours of study time will be automatically added by ONE. Raj also provided verification of 12 weekly work hours. Total hours are: 6 weekly student hours + 5 weekly study hours + 12 weekly work hours = 23 weekly hours. Raj is eligible for the full-time (40 hours per week, plus travel time) authorization of hours because his combined student, study time and work hours fall between 21-40 hours per week. Example 3: Two-caretakers, one caretaker working/one caretaker attending school Giuseppe and Paolo provided verification of income and student status, in which highest overlapping work and student hours are 8 per week. Paolo provided verification of 8 weekly class hours and Giuseppe provided verification of 20 weekly work hours. Total hours are: 8 weekly overlapping work/school hours + 5 study hours for Paolo = 13 weekly hours. This family is eligible for the part-time (20 hours per week, plus travel time) authorization of hours because their weekly overlapping work and student hours fall between1-20 hours per week.
