125 (07/2026) Chapter 2:Eligibility • Section 1: Application There is no limit to the number of times a participant may receive expedited service. However, all eligibility factors from the previous expedited service must be verified before they are entitled to seven- day processing again.
Application filed on or before the 15th: Benefits approved using expedited service may be certified for one month only. The due date listed on the request for information is the end of the month or no later than 30 days from the filing date. The verification must be provided by the end of that month for the participant to get continued benefits the next month. If the verification is provided before the end of the filing month; the certification period is extended. If verification is provided within 30 days of the filing date but after the end of the one-month certification period, the case is recertified for a full 12 months without requiring a new application. No further action is taken if the verification is not provided.
Application filed after the 15th: Benefits approved using expedited service may be certified for two months only. The verification must be provided by the end of the 30-day processing period following the filing date so continued eligibility can be determined. To receive further benefits, the applicant must provide the requested verification within 30 days. If the verification is provided by the end of the 30-day processing period, the certification period is extended. No further action is taken if the verification is not provided. Offices must have a seven-day expedited service process in place to screen applicants for expedited service to issue benefits within the seven-day time frame for eligible individuals. Pages one and two of the Application for Services (DHS 0415F) are used for this screening. • Sometimes the initial screening does not identify a group that qualifies for expedited service. When this was due to worker error, benefits must still be received by the seventh day following the filing date. When this was due to the applicant withholding information or providing misinformation, benefits must be received as soon as possible, but no later than seven calendar days following the date the error was discovered or the date the information was provided. • The applicant will not lose eligibility for expedited services due to missing their interview. When the applicant misses the appointment, a Notice of Missed Interview (NOMI) is sent. If an applicant does not meet the requirements for expedited eligibility services, no notice is sent. Continue to process the request for SNAP following regular eligibility timelines. If the individual requests a hearing because they feel they should have received expedited SNAP services, assist them in beginning the hearing process. TANF This does not apply to the TANF program. ERDC Priority processing Some families may be eligible to receive child care benefits through ERDC immediately even if they do not yet have any proof of income or current class schedule. Families with homeless youth or foster children may qualify for priority processing. To qualify for priority processing, families must meet one of the criteria listed below: • Homeless families: Homeless is defined as an individual who is lacking a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence.
