105 (07/2026) Chapter 2:Eligibility • Section 1: Application
For some families, however, eligibility factors must be redetermined at least once every 6 months for families who have an open JOBS plan and are not participating or on an active JOBS disqualification. This also includes a completed application and interview.
A redetermination may be done either at assigned intervals or whenever it is deemed necessary by the worker, so long as the interval between redeterminations does not exceed those listed above.
A TANF certification may be redetermined early in order to align the TANF certification with SNAP benefits as the certification period does not exceed the guidelines above. ERDC In the ERDC program the certification period at initial application or renewal must be no less than 12 months. The first month of the certification period starts with the effective date. If the effective date is in October, the certification period is October 1, YYYY through September 30, YYYY, of the following year. The end certification date is the date used by the system to send the participant a renewal notice and closure notice if they do not re-apply. Protected 12-month eligibility For ERDC, protected 12-month eligibility means that cases will generally remain open for at least 12-months. ERDC benefits will only close during the 12-month certification period if any of the following apply: • The family moves out of state, • There are no longer any eligible children in the need group, • The family requests benefits closure, • Benefits are determined in error, • The family’s income exceeds the exit income limit, or • The family’s resources are above $1,000,000. In addition, ERDC cases will NOT close in the following situations: • The family is not connected to a provider within three (3) months of certification start date • The family’s child care provider reports an unmet copay during the certification. Copay requirements must be met at renewal or reapplication if the case closes early for any of the reasons outlined above. • The caretaker reports a permanent job loss or no longer attending school. Authorized Work Search (AWS) will be granted through the remainder of the certification period for caretakers who report no longer working or the termination of school when there are no other valid schooling or employment records • The caretaker reports a temporary job loss (AWS) and does not report they have returned to work. When the caretaker does not report they have returned to work, ERDC will remain open. The copay will revert to the previous copay amount, prior to going on AWS.
