Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Ohio This initiative is designed to help youth of incarcerated parents develop mentoring relationships that promote developmental assets, increase positive attitudes and behaviors, and protect them from high risk behaviors. Children who have experienced trauma are at risk for behaviors considered to be high risk (i.e., truancy, substance abuse, promiscuity), which can then lead to cases involving Child Protective Services or Juvenile Justice. Mentors lessen the likelihood of a child engaging in those high risk behaviors and potentially being removed from the home.
