_____________________________________________________________________________ DIVISION OF WELFARE AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES Child Care Policy Manual hours/days of operation. If Child Care agency staff discover a provider has violated any licensing requirements, they must report the violation to the licensing agency using the Child Protective Services (CPS) & Child Care Licensing form and follow procedures in MS 690. Licensed Providers Include: Child Care Centers (Includes Nursery Schools and Preschools) Offer care for a minimum of 13 or more children in various age groups in a non-residential setting. Nevada requires centers to be licensed. Licensing does not ensure quality, but it does set minimum health, safety and caregiver training standards which centers must maintain. Note: State-funded Pre-K programs are currently exempt from child care licensing. Group Family Child Care Homes Offer care in the providers’ residence. Often the home has a specific area for the children and has been approved to accommodate up to 12 children. Family Child Care Homes Offer care in the providers’ home. Family child care providers can care for up to 6 children. Some family child care providers also receive approval to care for 3 additional school-age children. In addition to complying with the Provider Service Agreement, Immunization Records, and Cooperation with DWSS, all licensed providers must provide: • A copy of Current Child Care License at initial registration and license renewal verification annually; and • A copy of center/program Parent Contract The provider must be allowed 30 calendar days from the date the Provider Registration Form is date stamped to submit all required paperwork (the day after the date stamp is day one in the 30-day count). If the information is received within the requested time period, reimbursements can begin the date of the customer’s subsidy application (or reported change) or the first day care is provided, whichever is later. If the information is received after the allowable 30-day period, reimbursements will begin the date all required information is submitted. 621.1 Licensed Provider Group Size and Staff-to-Child Ratio A licensee of a child care center, child care institution, accommodation facility, facility for special events, nursery for infants and toddlers or special needs facility shall, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., abide by the following staffing levels in each classroom: Age of Child Required Staff-to-Child Ratio Group Size Less than 9 months of age 1 caregiver for every 4 children 8 9 months of age or older but less than 2 years of age 1 caregiver for every 6 children 12 2 years of age or older but less than 3 years of age 1 caregiver for every 9 children 18 3 years of age or older but less than 4 years of age 1 caregiver for every 12 children 24 4 years of age or older but less than 5 years of age 1 caregiver for every 13 children 26 5 years of age or older 1 caregiver for every 18 children 36 600-Provider Information [3] MTL 01/24 July 1, 2024
