have a medical home. Health screening and education are provided by the staff of the CareMobile. NJ FamilyCare materials are made available to encourage families to apply for health care coverage. McDonald’s also produced tray liners and hung informational posters at selected McDonald’s locations.
Marshall’s and TJ Maxx: Thirty-four Marshall’s stores and 20 TJ Maxx stores around New Jersey were given NJ FamilyCare fact sheets and income guideline charts. Part-time employees without health insurance or employees who only had coverage for themselves could use this information to apply for their children.
H&R Block: H&R Block participated in a nationwide effort to inform families about the Child Health Insurance Program by printing a message on their return form that included the 1(877) KIDS-NOW phone number. The state sent NJ FamilyCare fact sheets to New Jersey regional managers, to be distributed to their clients.
Giant Food Stores: Nine “Super G” markets in Trenton and Camden, where children likely to be eligible reside, were sent NJ FamilyCare fact sheets, to be distributed through their pharmacy departments.
Faith-Based Outreach: The state partnered with faith-based organizations, such as the United Methodist Church and others, and provides outreach training and enrollment materials to assist in reaching as many potential enrollees as possible. A faith-based toolkit was developed to encourage the participation of faith-based organizations and houses of worships in identifying uninsured families and referring them to an enrollment site for assistance. In addition to NJ FamilyCare materials, it includes tips on how to get the faith-based community involved, as well as sample sermons on child health and sample notices for the church bulletin board. This toolkit was mailed to over 1,500 faith-based organizations and houses of worship throughout the state.
Premium Assistance Program: The state’s Premium Assistance Program (see Attachment 8) includes partnerships with employers to inform employees of the availability of coverage and to evaluate the employer-provided coverage for comparability.
Housing Mortgage and Finance Administration (HMFA): NJ FamilyCare partnered with the HMFA to outreach and enroll uninsured families residing in housing developments throughout the state. Working directly with the administrators who oversee the Housing Managers for rent controlled properties, NJ FamilyCare gained access to these families. The Housing Managers not only agreed to have NJ FamilyCare information available for families, but were also invested in helping these families access insurance by assisting with the distribution of program materials, and helping families complete the NJ FamilyCare application.
