BAM 220 17 of 27 CASE ACTIONS BPB 2026-023 8-1-2026
BRIDGES ADMINISTRATIVE MANUAL STATE OF MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES
If CDC is active and requested for an additional child, and that child has a P/SP in the home who was not part of the most recent eligibility determination, the new P/SP must verify all required eligibility factors to make an eligibility decision for the added child. If the reported changes will result in a negative action, other than those on the CDC EDG Closure Reasons list, document the case and address at the next Redetermination. If reported changes result in a positive action, make the changes, document and certify. Note: Currently authorized children should not be negatively impacted, except for valid closure reasons. See CDC EDG Closure Reasons in this item. Example: CDC is open for Child A, and Child A's mother (only P/SP) and her Living Together Partner (LTP) are in the home. The mother and her LTP wish to add a new child-in-common (Child B) to the CDC program. The LTP is a P/SP to Child B, a required program group member, and was not a part of the most recent CDC eligibility decision. Therefore, the LTP must verify all required eligibility factors at member add to authorize CDC for Child B. If the LTP does not have a valid need reason, Child B is not eligible for CDC, and the CDC redetermination would not be extended. CDC Redetermination Extension: When a child(ren) is added to an active CDC program, the redetermination is to be extended, allowing for a full 12 months of continuous eligibility for the newly added child(ren), which will also extend CDC for any other child(ren) already active in the program. CDC can be extended twice before completing a redetermination. A redetermination must be completed prior to granting three or more extensions. If a request for a third extension is received prior to the redetermination, a policy exception must be requested. Policy exception requests should be sent to Policy-CDC@michigan.gov. Upon adding a child to an existing CDC program, the Extend CDC screen will need to be completed by checking the Extend CDC box. This will extend the CDC redetermination date for all active children. For children who turn age 13 after the CDC redetermination has been extended, Bridges will auto remove them from the CDC program once they turn age 14.
