1 of 2 I. STATEMENT OF POLICY SIMPLIFIED REPORTING HOUSEHOLDS ARE REQUIRED TO REPORT IF ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CHANGES OCCURS AFTER THE APPLICATION INTERVIEW OR DURING THE CERTIFICATION PERIOD. THE CHANGE MUST BE REPORTED BY THE 10th OF THE MONTH FOLLOWING THE MONTH THE CHANGE OCCURED. IF THE 10TH DAY OF THE MONTH FALLS ON A WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY, TREAT THE FOLLOWING WORKDAY AS THE 10th DAY. ● AN INCREASE IN INCOME THAT CAUSES THE HOUSEHOLD INCOME TO EXCEED 130% OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL (FPL) FOR THE HOUSEHOLD SIZE. THIS INCLUDES THE INCOME OF NEW HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS. Do not consider ineligible or disqualified persons in determining the household size. NOTE: A household that is exempt from the 130% of the FPL income eligibility standard that remains eligible after reporting income that exceeds the FPL has met the income reporting requirement until the next SR or redetermination, whichever comes first. Example 1: A household of two includes a mother and child. The father of the child, who has income, moves into the home. The client must report if the amount of all sources of income, including the income of the father, exceeds 130% of the FPL under which her household was certified. (In this situation that would be a household of two). Example 2: A household of two includes a 65-year-old man and his 63-year-old wife. The household has reported that the husband receives SSA benefits of $850 and his wife receives SSA benefits of $668. The income exceeds 130% of the FPL. The household’s income, with allowable shelter expenses, is below the net income level. The household has no further reporting requirements until the next recertification or SR, whichever comes first. Example 3: A household of two includes a 66-year-old man and his 64-year-old wife. The husband receives VA benefits of $750 and his wife receives SSA benefits of $325. The income does not exceed 130% of the FPL. During the certification period the household reports new unearned income in the amount of $600. A manual budget shows the total household income exceeds 130% of the FPL. However, after all allowable deductions, income is below the net income limit. The household remains eligible and has no further reporting requirements until the next recertification or SR, whichever comes first. ● Households that include an ABAWD must report changes in work or training hours of ABAWDS who are subject to the SNAP time limit if the change results in the ABAWD working or participating in training an average of less than 20 hours per week or 80 hours per month.
