B-1476-SNAP - PR CASE PROCESSING AT APPLICATION AND REDETERMINATION
The worker must determine if the household includes an ABAWD at application and redetermination. An automated notice, SNAP 4WR will be automatically sent to the household that contains an ABAWD who is a mandatory work registrant. This form is sent upon certification, SR, change report, and recertification to provide information concerning the SNAP time limit for ABAWDs.
The ABAWD Interviewing Guide (ABAWD 3) may be used during the SNAP interview to assist the worker in determining whether the household includes an ABAWD and if the ABAWD is exempt from the SNAP time limit.
If the household includes an ABAWD, the worker must:
• Discuss the SNAP time limit with the household,
• Discuss the ABAWD work requirement with the household,
• Advise the household that the ABAWD must report a change in the number of hours worked or participating in training if the change results in the ABAWD working or participating in training an average of less than 20 hours per week, and
• Determine if the ABAWD is subject to the SNAP time limit.
• Verify the number of countable months SNAP benefits were received in another state during the SNAP time clock period.
A new question “Did you discuss the ABAWD work requirements and SNAP time limit with the Household has been added on the LITE ‘ABAWD – Details’ screen to remind staff to conduct the discussion with the household. ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ are the options that can be selected from the dropdown menu, however, ‘No’ is not a valid answer.
