B-412-1-SNAP - PO Application Date on or Before the 15th of the Month

Household members other than newborns who are unable to furnish or apply for a social security number before certification can receive benefits with the household in the initial month. They must provide or apply for their social security number before the household's next monthly issuance or be disqualified.

● If the household fails to submit or apply for an SSN without good cause, an advance notice must be sent to remove the disqualified member(s) effective the following month.

● If the household applies for benefits at a Social Security Administration office, allow thirty days from the first day of the first full month to obtain the SSN.

B-412-2-SNAP - PO Application Date After the 15th of the Month (Simultaneous Issuance)

Household members other than newborns who are unable to furnish or apply for a social security number before certification can receive benefits with the household in both the initial month and the second month. They must provide or apply for their social security number before the household's next monthly issuance or be disqualified.

● If the household fails to submit or apply for an SSN without good cause, an advance notice must be sent to remove the disqualified member(s) effective the following month.

● If the household applies for benefits at a Social Security Administration office, allow thirty days from the first day of the first full month to obtain the SSN.

II. PROCEDURES

B-411-SNAP - PR INITIAL CERTIFICATION OR ADDING PERSONS

OBTAIN A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER (SSN) OR ACCEPTABLE PROOF THAT THE CLIENT HAS APPLIED FOR AN SSN.

IF THE MEMBER DOES NOT PROVIDE THE SSN OR ACCEPTABLE PROOF OF APPLICATION FOR AN SSN, AND GOOD CAUSE FOR FAILURE TO TIMELY APPLY FOR AN SSN IS NOT ESTABLISHED, DISQUALIFY THE MEMBER BY ENTERING THE APPROPRIATE INCLUSION/EXCLUSION CODE AND INCLUSION/EXCLUSION REASON CODE ON THE REGISTER MAINTAIN MEMBER BY CASE SCREEN ON LAMI.

IF GOOD CAUSE IS ESTABLISHED AT APPLICATION AND THE MEMBER IS INCLUDED, ESTABLISH GOOD CAUSE EVERY 30 DAYS THEREAFTER.
