MS 6475 [1]
Volume 2 - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) MS 6475 – R. 5/31/26 – OMTL – 695 Reinstatement and Reactivation
A. Reinstatement
1. [Reinstate a case when it has been discontinued or denied due to agency error. This includes cases that are denied in error during the mid-review period when Form FS-2 SNAP Review and all required verification are provided by the designated due date per MS 6410 and MS 6480. Click the “Reinstate” button on the Case Summary screen and follow system prompts. Document the case thoroughly.] 2. A reinstatement should never pend, as it should never be initiated unless all information necessary to process the case has been provided. 3. When a case is reinstated, it is restored to the circumstances as they were at the time of discontinuance. If anything has changed, complete a case change after the reinstatement is complete. 4. Never reinstate an application that was correctly denied. If an application is correctly denied, it must be entered as a reapplication.
B. Reactivation
The Reactivate function assigns a new certification period and applies to applications and recertifications.
1. Reactivate a case when all mandatory verification has been provided, and a 30/60 is appropriate. 2. A reactivated case should never pend, as it should never be initiated unless all mandatory information has been provided. 3. If the case was previously pended for both mandatory and optional verification, the optional information should be removed so the case will not pend. 4. Click the “Reactivate” button on the Case Summary screen and follow system prompts. 5. If anything has changed, complete a case change after the reactivation is complete. 6. Document the case thoroughly.
The reactivate button will only be enabled during the 30/60 timeframe. SNAP verifications required on this screen will be only those that caused the case to deny. Other Requests For Information (RFI)s with a due date past the original due date will be displayed but will not be mandatory. After this period, the household must submit a new application, which is accessed via the “Reapply/Add Program” button.
Note: SNAP 30/60 policy does not apply to cases that have been denied as a result of an unverified case change.
