Volume II OMTL-650 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program 6/15/24 MS 3430* SEBT ALLOTMENTS AND INCOME GUIDELINES (1) The Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (SEBT) program provides a standard amount of food benefits to eligible students enrolled in a public or private school that participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). SEBT allotments are predetermined annually by the Federal Nutrition Service (FNS). The allotment is intended for the summer operational period and is not prorated regardless of the approval date. The summer 2024 allotment is a one-time issuance of $120 per eligible student. Income guidelines are revised annually on July 1 by the Secretary for determining income eligibility for free and reduced-price meals under the NSLP and School Breakfast Program. Income considered for eligibility is income received during the month prior to application for SEBT benefits. If the prior month income does not accurately reflect the household's annual income, income must be based on the projected annual household income. If the prior year's income provides an accurate reflection of the household's current annual income, the prior year may be used as a base for the projected annual income. Income information is required for all members reported in the household, including children. If an adult member has no income, that information is required as well. A. The source of the income (such as earnings, wages, welfare, pensions, support payments, unemployment compensation, social security and other cash income). B. Other cash income includes cash amounts received or withdrawn from any source, including savings, investments, trust accounts, and other resources which are available to pay for a child's meals. Examples of income for children: Regular full or part-time wages, Social Security benefits, money from friends/family received regularly, income from private pension, annuity or trust fund, etc. Examples of income for adults: Earnings from work, public assistance, alimony, child support, pensions, retirement, certain military income, etc. The following guidelines are for the Summer 2024 operational period.
