1121 Basis of Programs and Policies

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is designated single state agency for both the Medicaid and CHIP Programs. The Secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment has the responsibility to develop state plans for furnishing assistance and services to eligible individuals and to determine the general policies relating to all forms of assistance which are administered by the Division of Health Care Finance. The Kansas programs are independent from programs administered in other states unless otherwise stated in this manual. An application for assistance in Kansas shall be treated as a new application.

Therefore, a new determination of eligibility rendered by another state shall not, in and of itself, affect eligibility in Kansas.
