ESA SNAP Policy Manual 116 Employment hours or earnings, if not obtainable through normal verification procedures, including for migrant or seasonal farmworkers: ESA will verify a weekly wage equivalent to the federal minimum wage multiplied by 30 hours through another acceptable source. Application for Unemployment Compensation, if not available through the Unemployment Compensation interface, or if questionable: A more detailed table is available in the SNAP Work Requirements Handbook. 9.3.1 Providing Employment Information If ESA requests information on employment status from a nonexempt household member, the customer must provide this information to meet the work requirements. 9.3.2 Accepting Suitable Employment If a customer is offered employment that ESA considers suitable employment (see Section 9.3.5, Suitable Employment) and the offer is for a wage equal to or greater than the District’s minimum wage at the time of the employment offer, the customer must accept the offer in order to meet SNAP work requirements. If a customer refuses an offer of suitable employment at a wage of the District’s minimum wage or greater and does not have good cause, ESA will sanction them for failing to meet work requirements. 9.3.3 Voluntary Quit or Reduction of Work Hours 9.3.3.1 Voluntary Quit ESA considers a customer to have voluntarily quit a job in the following situations: The customer quit a job where they were working at least 30 hours a week or receiving earnings of at least 30 hours multiplied by the current federal minimum wage. The customer does not have good cause for quitting. ESA will send a Notice of Adverse Action within 10 days of determining a customer has voluntarily quit without good cause and disqualify them as described in the Section 9.3, SNAP Recipient Work Requirements. ESA does not disqualify a person for a voluntary quit in the following situations: The customer was exempt from work registration (unless the exemption was based on working 30 hours or more or earning a weekly wage equal to the federal minimum wage multiplied by 30 hours). The employment involved was less than 30 hours per week and did not provide weekly earnings that were at least equivalent to the federal minimum wage multiplied by 30 hours. The customer quit their job more than 60 days before they applied for SNAP. The customer resigned from a job at the demand of the employer. The customer terminated a self-employment enterprise. Return
