SNAP Work Requirements To fulfill the work requirement for SNAP, all household members between the ages of 16 and 59 must register for work unless they qualify for an exemption. 9.1 Work Registration Requirements ESA registers SNAP household members between the ages of 16 and 59 for work at the time of application and every 12 months as a condition of eligibility, unless they are exempt. Work registrants must: Be registered for work by ESA at application and every 12 months after initial registration. Provide ESA with sufficient employment status or availability for work when requested. Accept a genuine offer of suitable employment. Report to an employer to whom ESA has made a referral as suitable employment. Not voluntarily reduce work hours to less than 30 hours a week without good cause. Not voluntarily quit, without good cause, a job that provided more than 30 hours of work a week or provided weekly earnings of at least the federal minimum wage multiplied by 30 hours. ESA registers a person for work by recording work registration in the customer’s case record. If a customer refuses to allow ESA to register them for work without good cause, they will be disqualified from SNAP. A striker who applies for assistance and whose household is eligible for SNAP must be registered for work unless they were exempt from work registration on the day of application.
