NA Gross Income Test
The gross income test is applied in both the eligibility and benefit determinations, based on one of the following:
● 165% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) when the separate NA budgetary unit members live with participants who are elderly or have a disability who are unable to buy and cook food alone. (See Budgetary Units with Special Circumstances for more information.)
● 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) when the household meets Expanded Categorical Eligibility. (See NA Categorical Eligibility for more information.)
● 130% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) for all other households
Gross income is the total of all countable income received by the budgetary unit not including the farm self-employment loss.
The countable gross income is compared to the maximum income allowable by budgetary unit size.
The gross income test is not used for budgetary units containing a participant who is elderly or who has a disability. Only the net income test applies to these budgetary units.
