person, by mail, or electronically and ends when the application is approved or denied. Interviews for these households will be conducted by telephone unless the household requests a virtual or face-to-face interview.
8260 Interviews with Authorized Representatives SNAP Manual 05/01/2022 Interviews with authorized representatives will be conducted when requested by the household. An authorized representative is an individual designated on the application, Consent for an Authorized Representative, or in writing by the case head, his or her spouse, or another responsible household member. Interviews with authorized representatives are conducted in the same manner as interviews with a member of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) household. For this reason, the authorized representative must be an individual familiar with the household’s circumstances. The household is liable for any over issuance of SNAP benefits resulting from erroneous information given by the authorized representative. Therefore, if possible, the case head, his or her spouse, or another responsible household member should prepare the application or should review the application before its submission to the county office. See SNAP 900-983.
