15.2.3.F I-512 Parole Authorization Noncitizens who are not eligible for a visa or for refugee status can be paroled into the U.S. for emergent or compelling reasons in the public interest. There are special parole procedures for Cubans paroled into the U.S. and those who have applied for lawful permanent resident (LPR) or another immigration status. They can apply for advance parole, if they must leave the U.S. If there was an application for advance parole before leaving the country, and the individual received it, then that will allow them to reenter the U.S. from short trips abroad. Persons granted parole status shall indicate why they were granted parole. The card looks similar to the current Employment Authorization Document (EAD) but will include text that reads, "Serves as I-512 Advance Parole." A card with this text will serve as both an employment authorization and Advance Parole document.
