8.1 Introduction

W-2 Wisconsin Works emphasizes that education and training are pathways to meaningful employment. Education and training activities help provide tangible employment skills and can be combined with work or work training activities to help participants gain the skills necessary for career advancement.

To ensure all W-2 participants, including those placed in case management positions, may participate in education and training activities. W-2 agencies must:

Establish a referral relationship with other employment and training programs to provide participants with varied education and training opportunities; and

Encourage employers to make training sites available on the business site for participants.

The FEP Financial and Employment Planner should encourage participants interested in education and training to define their long-term career goals and help them identify the relevant education and training necessary to create an actionable path to career success.

The FEP should reference the resources outlined in section 8.4.1 when working with an individual interested in education and training.
