1800.6.6.3 One-Time Medical Expenses
Households that are not using the standard medical expense may choose to have one-time only medical expenses: used in one month; or averaged over the remaining months of their benefit period. Averaging begins the month the change is effective.
Exception : If the household is certified for a 24-month or 36-month period and the expense is reported in the first 12-months, the household has the option of averaging the expense over the first 12-months of the benefit period or over the remaining months of the 24-month or 36-month benefit period. If the household is certified for a 36-month period and the expense is reported in the second 12-months, the household has the option of averaging the expense over the second 12-months of the benefit period or over the remaining months of the 36-month benefit period.
