Allow child or dependent care costs only if the care is needed to permit all parents or guardians to: Look for work Accept a job or continue working, regardless of whether the income is counted or excluded Comply with Work Requirements Attend training or education to prepare the person for work

All parents or guardians in a household must need the care by meeting one of the above. Exception : See Special Dependent Care Situations .

Allow the following costs: The unreimbursed billed expense for children or another dependent member(s); and/or Transportation costs to and from program sites. Use the actual cost of public transportation or .585 cents per mile.
