Customer Responsibilities

Unless good cause for not cooperating is claimed or has been established, applicants and recipients must cooperate with the following requirements:

Submit an application for Child Support Services (DOS) with ORS within 60 days.

Assist ORS by identifying and helping to locate the legal parent who is absent. Information on the legal parent who is absent must always be provided to ORS.

If a child is conceived or born during a legal marriage, the husband is considered the legal father, even if the wife states he is not the natural father. If a divorce occurs prior to the birth, the divorce decree should state the legal father’s responsibility to the child.

Assist ORS in establishing the paternity of a child born out of wedlock.

Assist ORS in obtaining support payments.
