Policy Effective: May 1, 2009
Some families may be granted an extension to the 36-month time limit. The parent in any family filing unit granted an extension to the 36-month time limit is required to continue participation in an employment plan. Some extensions are granted on a month-to-month basis, and some extension reasons are granted up to 6 months.
The employment counselor will decide on an ongoing monthly or a case-by-case basis up to 6 months depending on the extension criteria if the household may have an extension.
The employment center manager or designee must review each extension reason decision and conclude the decision is appropriate.
Each time a customer reapplies for financial assistance after receiving 36 months, the customer must be referred to an employment counselor and an extension staffing must be completed before an application can be opened or denied Time Limit. The extension staffing must take place within 30 days of the reapplication.
For customers currently open for FEP and who have reached their 36 months, an extension staffing is required before the case can be closed for Time Limit. This includes undocumented non-citizen parents and families with a parent disqualified for fraud.
See the WDD Policy Manual, section 3101 and 3175 for more information on reasons for extensions to the 36-month time limits.
