Policy Effective: October 1, 2022
When a household member receives Family Employment Program (FEP) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) that person is categorically asset eligible. Those household members’ assets do not count when determining the total countable assets.
A household receiving substantial lottery or gambling winnings will immediately lose eligibility for SNAP. Substantial winnings are defined as a cash prize of $4,500 or more won in a single game, before taxes or other withholdings.
A household closing for assets due to substantial lottery or gambling winnings loses its categorically eligible status. This applies at immediate closure and with a new application. Subsequent applications will be subject to asset rules found in Policy 510 .
