Certain non-citizens who have been legally admitted to the United States for permanent residence on or after December 19, 1997, must have a portion of the earned and unearned income of their sponsors counted in determining eligibility.
These non-citizens are subject to this requirement from the date the non-citizen enters the United States as a permanent resident until they achieve US Citizenship through Naturalization, the sponsor dies, or they have worked 40 qualifying quarters.
This applies to eligible non-citizens (policies 215-2A and 215-2C ), and qualified and eligible non-citizens (policy 215-2B ) unless they meet an exemption.
