A customer must be living in Utah voluntarily and not for a temporary purpose. There is no requirement for a fixed place of residence. The customer needs only to say they intend to become a Utah resident.
Note: For SNAP, a temporary purpose is defined as a brief visit for recreational reasons.
A customer may also be considered a Utah resident if living in Utah, not receiving assistance from another state, and entered Utah for purposes of employment. The customer may have had either a job commitment or state that he is seeking employment in Utah, whether or not currently employed. A child or children accompanying their parent takes the residence of the parents.
A customer must live in the state in which they apply. If a customer applies for benefits while living in another state, the application will be denied and the customer will need to reapply once living in Utah.
Vacationers are not eligible.
