Qualified Non-citizens
A qualified non-citizen has been admitted as a lawful permanent resident (LPR). Non-citizens may have entered the country under another status (e.g., but not limited to, battered non-citizens, conditional entrants, special immigrants), but have applied and are now approved as LPRs. The SAVE response will show LPR, or the customer will have a USCIS Form I-551.
Qualified LPRs must live in the U.S. under a qualified status for a total of 5 years. They do not need to be consecutive. The 5-year waiting period begins on the date the immigrant obtains status as a qualified non-citizen through the USCIS.
