All Department of Workforce Services (DWS) Financial assistance programs’ goals and objectives are guided by the Department’s Mission Statement:

We provide employment and support services for our customer to improve their economic opportunities.

One of Utah’s major ideals has been that all Department staff work toward the common goal of economic independence for customers receiving Financial assistance. This means every aspect of the operation from information and referral, intervention in planning and goal development, diversion, the provision of supportive services, eligibility determination, assistance issuance, and finally goal attainment and transition toward independence has the employment focus.
