The Family Employment Program (FEP) is available at all Employment Centers. The program serves eligible families with dependent children and families where no dependent children reside in the home but a woman is pregnant and in her third trimester. Household composition determines the participation requirements of the family. See policy 221 for information on household composition for FEP.
The goal of the Family Employment Program is to increase family income by concentrating on employment and child support payments. The premise of the program is that everyone can become more self sufficient by focusing on employment.
The Family Employment Program connects customers to appropriate activities such as job search, job training, adult education, skill training, community work, child support enforcement, and other employment related activities. By using appropriate, available resources to follow through on an individualized employment plan, including providing supportive services such as Financial assistance on a short-term basis, a family will move toward their maximum achievable self-supporting level as quickly as possible.
A household that receives Financial assistance, including a diversion payment, from the Family Employment Program remains eligible for Y funds for twenty-four months after Financial assistance terminates. A household that receives regular monthly FEP payments, excluding diversions, may be eligible for other supportive services.
An initial interview, FEP Orientation, FEP agreement, preliminary employment plan and completing trial participation (if required) are required for the application to be approved.
Household applying for FEP or receiving ongoing FEP payments may receive FEP Child Care. This excludes households approved for diversion. See policy 210-1 .
The Family may receive Medicaid. See the Medicaid Eligibility Manual.
This is a time limited program. See policy 281 .
