The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) must safeguard or restrict access to any information on individual customers. It does not matter whether this information is kept in the case record, in the computer system or somewhere else. It can be shared only as described in policy 110-4 and 110-5 . Any person who fails to safeguard information is subject to disciplinary action as well as both civil and criminal penalties.

DWS can give out general statistics. Information obtained by DWS from any source, which would identify the individual, will not be released without the individual's consent or, if the individual is a minor, the consent of his or her parent or guardian.
