Previous Policy

If a child is either covered by or has access to coverage under a state employee’s group health plan due to a parent’s or legal guardian’s employment with the state, the child is not eligible to enroll in CHIP. The parent or guardian must be eligible for benefits.

Note: A state employee offered health insurance through the state's group health plan is considered to have access to affordable health insurance. A person is a state employee if they receive a paycheck from the State of Utah. School District employees are not considered state employees.
