July 1, 2026 Division of TennCare 16 Carry Forward Amount from the previous month. Expenses will be carried over until the full amount of the expense is deducted or the expense is paid in full, whichever occurs first. 4. Patient Liability Changes Any change in an enrollee's patient liability amount (whether an increase or decrease) will be applied prospectively except as described below, and the enrollee will be provided advance notice of such change in their patient liability. A patient liability change cannot be applied retroactively for patient liability amounts paid in a prior or current month unless the enrollee is deceased or discharged. A patient liability overcharge that occurred in a prior month can be adjusted in a future month(s) if the overcharge was the result of an agency error or administrative procedures. A patient liability overcharge results when the enrollee pays more toward the cost of his care than he should have, or when the individual’s IME deductions are greater than his total income.
