Continuing initiatives include: 1. Use of multi-media including websites, Facebook, and Twitter: PCAR continues its use of our websites to provide information about healthy relationships and sexual violence awareness and prevention, in addition to providing resources for teens to seek help. During FY 2022-2023, the PCAR website (www.pcar.org) had 296,166 page views. PCAR has a Facebook page which it updates daily and uses Twitter (@PCARORG) to communicate upcoming events. As of June 30, 2023, the Facebook page had 7,702 page visits and PCAR has 21,300 impressions on Twitter. So far in 2023-2024, PCAR is averaging 9,000 page views each month on Facebook. Social media activity continues to be a growth area, not only for PCAR but also for the network of centers across Pennsylvania. All of the centers in the network have websites and the majority have Facebook pages, over 75 percent use Instagram, and over 50 percent use Twitter. Other social media platforms used by centers include YouTube, LinkedIn, Snap Chat, Tik Tok, and Pinterest. 2. Sexual Assault Awareness Month: The national theme for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) 2024 was “Building Connected Communities”. By building connected communities we can reduce the likelihood of sexual abuse, assault, and harassment. Any space where people come together is a community, whether in neighborhoods, workplaces, campuses, organizations, or even online spaces. Every year PCAR also shares a statewide theme that compliments the national theme. The 2024 statewide theme was “United to Prevent Sexual Violence”. Throughout the month PCAR and its stakeholders united to learn, share, and take action to prevent sexual violence. People were encouraged to take steps to make others feel safe and help if they are sexually abused or harassed. Information was shared about options and where to find a local rape crisis center. The goal was to create communities where being a good neighbor is the norm, setting boundaries is celebrated, and holding people who cause sexual harm responsible is the standard. PCAR developed promotional items for use by the PA Centers. These items included stickers, magnets, and “I ask for consent” labeled condoms. In addition, social media graphics, discussion topics, talking points, and informational handouts were made available to PA Centers for distribution in their communities.
3. Development and Distribution of Print materials: The PCAR Communications Department and Training/Technical Assistance Team worked together to develop the following materials during FY 2023-2024.
