96 (07/2026) Chapter 2:Eligibility • Section 1: Application Other resources Third Month Application Processing: Program applications may run over into a third calendar month, this explains how some program time frames are extendable so we can consider whether the family will become eligible with upcoming, future changes. Establishing DOR/Filing Date Case Actions QRG: Processing Timeframe Extension Filing date A filing date is the date ODHS|OHA receives a request for benefits from the applicant. A filing date is established when the applicant provides their name, address and signature to ODHS|OHA. For some programs, the filing date is the date benefits may begin once eligibility is determined. A completed application is not needed or required to set the filing date. Program How to establish a filing date Application processing time SNAP A request for SNAP benefits received by ODHS|OHA that includes the applicant’s name, address and signature. This is true, even if the request is received after business hours or on a weekend or holiday. • 7 days for expedited service. • 30 days for non-expedited service. 60 days if participant requests additional time to submit pended items. TANF The date a signed application for cash benefits (including the applicant’s name, address and signature) is received by ODHS|OHA. If the request is received after business hours or on a weekend or holiday, the filing date will be the next working day. In the TANF program, an application must be processed within 30 days or 45 days if eligibility information is expected to be received after the 30th day and the individual has no control of this information. When an Oregonian applies for TANF and is denied for the current month, we cannot use the same filing date and interview when evaluating for TANF eligibility in the following month. However, the same paper application, if within 60days of the original filing date can be used. When using the same application within the 60-day time frame, it must be amended to include the newly established filing date, update any information that has changed, and obtain a new signature. ERDC Filing date does not apply. See date of request.
