Priority Processing Some families may be eligible to receive child care benefits through ERDC immediately even if they do not yet have any proof of income. Families with homeless youth or foster children may qualify for priority processing. To qualify for priority processing, families must meet one of the criteria listed below: • Homeless families: Homeless is defined as an individual who is lacking a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence. This includes living in an emergency shelter or shared housing with others due to loss of housing or economic hardship; or staying in motels/hotels, cars, parks, public places, tents, trailers or other similar settings. • Families with foster children: The caretaker must indicate they need child care for a child receiving foster care to be eligible for priority processing; older children ages 12 through 17 may still be eligible by applying special needs age (SNA) coding. At intake, if a family does not have sufficient income verification to approve their ERDC case, it is critical or ODHS|OHA to determine if the family qualifies for priority processing. If the family is eligible for priority processing, the case is opened based on the family’s best estimate of their ongoing income; a notice should be given to the family letting them know their ERDC case will close 45 days from their date of request (DOR). An interview is not required when priority processing has been determined by ONE.
