______________________________________________________________________________ DIVISION OF WELFARE AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES Child Care Policy Manual 180 CO-PAYMENTS 181 Family Co-Payment Contribution Requirements Clients not receiving a 100% subsidy are required to participate in the cost of their child care by making a Family Co-payment Contribution to the provider. The household’s co-payment contribution amount is determined based upon their household size and countable income. A family co-payment contribution is required from families based on income, household size, type of care, county, and age of child except for TANF/ NEON, CPS/Foster care, and families experiencing homelessness which are exempt from co-payment contribution. Family co-payment contributions may be evaluated for special consideration and waived by the CCDP Chief, on a case-by-case basis, if unusual circumstances exist. The request must be submitted in writing to the Chief of the CCDP and must detail the circumstances that suggest the co-payment should be waived. Requests may be submitted via mail, fax, or email: Child Care and Development Program 1470 College Pkwy. Carson City, NV 89706 FAX: (775) 684-0617 Email: ccdp@dwss.nv.gov 182 Verification of Co-Payment The timesheet for each child has an option at the bottom for the provider to indicate the family is out of compliance with paying the required Family Co-Payment Contribution by checking the “No” box after the “Is the client’s copayment current?” question and adding a dollar amount to the “Balance” blank. Payment staff are required to forward a copy of the timesheet to the assigned case manager for action. The case manager, within 10 days of receipt of the timesheet, must issue a Request for Information allowing the family 10 days to get the copayment balance current, or to obtain a written payment agreement signed by the provider allowing additional time to make payment. The RFI and subsequent actions in resolving the co-payment balance must be noted in the system case notes. 183 Failure to Pay Co-Payment If the client fails to pay or is not current with their co-payment contribution, the client must attempt to establish a Repayment Agreement with their child care provider. Verification must be provided to the Child Care Resource and Referral agency within 10 calendar days of receipt of the Request for Information. If the client fails to pay the co-payment contribution in accordance with the provider’s payment policy and/or fails to attempt to establish a Repayment Agreement, benefits may be terminated allowing advance notice of adverse action as described in Manual Section 532. 190 CASE NOTES Case notes document factors of eligibility and case actions taken by the case manager.
