New Mexico is the first state in the nation to offer no-cost universal child care for families, no matter how much they earn. After years of work by families, advocates, providers, and lawmakers, Universal Child Care became a reality on November 1, 2025 . Today, families across New Mexico can get help paying for child care, easing costs and giving children access to safe, high-quality care.
